PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Fistkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Vladimir Fistkov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snake just misses with a punch to the body.
Fistkov is looking to clinch.

Fistkov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Snake tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fistkov is in Snake's guard.

Snake is looking for a triangle here but Fistkov uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Snake sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Snake moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Snake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snake is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fistkov is aware though and is defending well.

Snake had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fistkov defends it easily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Snake is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fistkov holds on and takes a little breather.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Snake postures up in Fistkov's guard and throws a big left but Fistkov blocks it.

Snake seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Snake drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Snake jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Snake throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fistkov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Snake accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fistkov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Snake controls the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jake Snake has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Fistkov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Fistkov wants to take a breather but Snake is having none of it.

Snake fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fistkov manages to avoid it.

Fistkov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Snake did well to prevent Fistkov getting side control.

Snake lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fistkov!

Snake wants to finish this one by submission but Fistkov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Snake.

Snake jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Fistkov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fistkov gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Snake throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Fistkov because Snake loaded up on that one.
Poor strikes thrown by Snake there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Snake is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fistkov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Snake is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fistkov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Snake tries to score with some ground and pound. Fistkov controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Jake Snake overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fistkov tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Fistkov tries to control Snake's body but Snake pushes him off. Fistkov squirms to his side and now Snake has his back!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Snake's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
I really don't envy Fistkov right now.
