Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pysiu Reja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Koster! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reja scores with a takedown into Koster's guard. Reja trying to control but Koster is working from the bottom. Koster has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reja can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Koster has his foot on Reja's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reja works his way back into a safe position though. Koster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reja gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Koster has his foot on Reja's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reja works his way back into a safe position though. Reja works a leg free and moves into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reja not doing much here.
Reja knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Koster on the ground. Koster is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reja pulls his head out easily. Koster looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reja not doing much here.
Reja sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Koster defending well though. Reja decides to return to a standing position. Koster throws a jab but it's blocked by Reja. Koster misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Koster looks gassed! Koster moves out of range as Reja strikes. Jose Koster is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Koster gets tackled into the cage by Reja. Reja maintains the clinch. Koster tries to land knees in the clinch but Reja avoids the damage to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reja has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Koster uses from the top position. Koster avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Reja doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Reja is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Reja throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Koster is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Reja's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Reja! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Koster has tapped! This one is allllll over!
