Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Pontes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Billson Crawdad!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crawdad takes one to the side of the head.
Crawdad tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pontes swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No joy there for Pontes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Crawdad doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Pontes counter with a right hand.
Crawdad misses with a takedown attempt - Pontes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pontes looks to throw the jab but Crawdad is out of range.
Pontes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Crawdad moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pontes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Crawdad.
Pontes misses with a straight right.
Pontes ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pontes connects with a body shot that sends Crawdad's belly button to the back.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pontes, as that shot connected.
Felipe Pontes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pontes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Crawdad manages to avoid it.

Pontes drops his shoulder and cracks Crawdad with a huge uppercut! Crawdad goes down! Can Pontes finish him?


Crawdad is rocked!
Pontes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Crawdad is still in real trouble! Can Pontes finish him?
Crawdad looking for a sweep. Not yet Crawdad, not yet.
Pontes throws a big right hand that misses.
Crawdad seems to have recovered his senses.
Pontes looking to pass the guard.
Pontes throwing strikes but missing.
Pontes passes into half guard.

Pontes is trying to work for a kimura but Crawdad is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice strikes from Pontes there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pontes missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Pontes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pontes is trying to control the action in half guard but Crawdad is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Crawdad slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Pontes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Crawdad is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pontes defends well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pontes trying to control the position from guard on top but Crawdad is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pontes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pontes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Pontes wants to control from the top but Crawdad keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pontes looking to sit in guard and control but Crawdad gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pontes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crawdad manages to get himself to full guard.
Pontes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pontes throws and elbow that misses. Crawdad uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pontes's guard. Nice move by Crawdad!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Crawdad's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pontes keeping full guard, as Crawdad tries to pass.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Felipe Pontes dominated that round.
That's time! Pontes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A looping hook to the body misses from Pontes. Crawdad does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pontes thows a left - swing and a miss!
Pontes lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Pontes lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A slow jab from Pontes misses its intended target.
Pontes misses with a looping left.
A shot to the liver by Pontes. Beautiful body shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pontes connects with a single shot there.
Pontes just misses with a punch to the body.
Pontes dances in with a quick combination. Crawdad is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Pontes snaps Crawdad's head back. Crawdad stumbles backwards against the cage. Pontes steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Crawdad's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Crawdad just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Felipe Pontes!
After the fight, Felipe Pontes was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
