Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Harold Benedez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randon Rett! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benedez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rett fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Benedez sprawls well initially but Rett persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Rett not landing any meaningful shots this time. Rett is looking to advance position but Benedez won't allow it. Rett is looking for a kimura but Benedez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rett to get the leverage. Benedez is staying active underneath Rett, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Rett thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rett not landing any meaningful shots this time. Rett is trying to work for a kimura but Benedez is defending well.

Benedez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Rett throwing shots but Benedez is blocking nicely. Rett is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Benedez defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rett perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Rett looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rett is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Benedez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rett.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benedez wants to improve his position but Rett is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Benedez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rett sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Benedez defending well though. Rett uses his free foot to push down on Benedez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Benedez. Rett is looking to work his way around to Benedez's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Benedez tries to hold on but Rett pushes him away. Rett cracks Benedez with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rett looking to control but Benedez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Benedez can't escape the position.
This has been an exciting period of action! Rett is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Benedez is surviving well by controlling Rett's body position as best he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Randon Rett dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
A swing and a miss from Benedez. Benedez throws a right and a left that Rett avoids nicely. Rett gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Benedez counters with a shoot takedown. Rett fights it but they end up in guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Benedez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Rett throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Rett is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Benedez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Benedez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rett looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benedez throwing strikes but missing. Benedez wants to control from the top but Rett keeps moving. Rett avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Benedez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Benedez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Benedez is looking to stand up but Rett won't let him. Rett is looking to sinch up a triangle. Benedez throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rett's body to avoid the submission. Rett has instead reached around Benedez's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rett arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
