Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Broderick Kurns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tonka Richer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Broderick Kurns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tonka Richer!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Richer drives through with a takedown into Kurns's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Richer prevents Kurns from getting back to his feet.
Kurns trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Richer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kurns is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Richer is controlling him.
Richer wanted to stand there but Kurns had control of the position.
Kurns is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Richer trying to control the position from guard on top but Kurns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tonka Richer.

so Richer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Richer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Richer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kurns is looking to stand up but Richer isn't so interested in that idea.
Kurns keeping moving, preventing Richer from controlling successfully.
Richer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kurns avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Richer trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kurns's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kurns is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

and Richer counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kurns's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Richer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kurns to the mat! Kurns manages to get full guard.
Kurns is looking to stand up but Richer isn't so interested in that idea.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tonka Richer hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Richer slips a jab and a cross from Kurns.

Kurns throws a left and a right that both miss

and Richer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kurns is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kurns wants to stand but Richer is controlling the position.
Richer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kurns is looking to stand up but Richer isn't so interested in that idea.

Kurns is looking to break free of the clinch but Richer has double underhooks.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tonka Richer dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kurns throws a combination that misses

and Richer holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Richer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kurns walks away with a smile on his face. Richer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Richer throws a sloppy head kick and Kurns moves out of range easily.

Kurns throws a left that rocks Richer and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Kurns dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Richer regain composure!


Richer is rocked!


It looks like Tonka Richer has been cut.
Kurns tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Richer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kurns. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Richer is looking to reverse the position.
Kurns tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Richer sneaks back into half guard.
Richer trying to hold on to Kurns's head to control him but Kurns postures up.
Kurns tries to stand but can't do so whilst Richer controls his leg.
Richer wants to improve his position but Kurns is controlling well.
Richer wants to get back to his feet.

Kurns wants to stand up but Richer is controlling the position.
Richer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kurns is working away from the top position though.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tonka Richer wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kurns misses with a few strikes there.
Kurns throws a left and a right that both miss
and Richer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Richer shoots in for a takedown but Kurns shows good takedown defense.
Richer shoots in but Kurns avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Broderick Kurns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tonka Richer.

Kurns misses with the combination.

Richer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Broderick Kurns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Richer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kurns tries to kick Richer off but Richer keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Richer is looking to advance position but Kurns won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tonka Richer was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Richer closes the distance and clinches up with Kurns, looking for a takedown. Richer pushes Kurns against the cage but Kurns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A close second round but Tonka Richer will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Kurns's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Kurns throws a nice looking combination but Richer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Richer has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kurns has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
