Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ace Darko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Ruent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darko comes to the cage accompanied by Sully Erna - Avalon. Pete Ruent has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ace Darko's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruent smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Darko throws a big shot that misses.
Darko drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Ruent moves out of range of the body kick from Darko.
Ruent just misses with a punch to the body.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Darko checks a leg kick.
Darko throws an overhand right that lands on Ruent's shoulder, as Ruent tries to avoid the shot.
Ruent scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Darko doesn't seem bothered though.
Darko lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ruent tries to clinch there but Darko circles away.
Darko tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Ruent instigates a clinch.
Ruent gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Darko.
Ruent can't find room to land a body shot as Darko controls the action.
A body shot lands from Darko.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Darko tries to work over Ruent's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Ruent keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Darko's efforts to push away.
Darko misses with a hook to the ribs.

Darko tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Darko swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Darko pushes Ruent back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ruent misses with some punches.
Ruent struggles to land a body shot inside as Darko controls his hands.
Darko goes for a takedown attempt but Ruent pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ruent fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A big right from Darko misses.
Ruent keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ruent slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Darko lands a nice looking kick to the body. Ruent takes a step back to recover.
Ruent gets a double leg takedown into Darko's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Darko is trying to control the position but Ruent postures up.
Darko is really struggling to control Ruent but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ace Darko.
Darko tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Darko lands with a straight right. Ruent didn't see that one coming.
Darko throws out a leg kick but Ruent moves out of range and Darko only half commits.
Ruent closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Darko is looking for a sweep. Ruent is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Darko is controlling Ruent's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Darko makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Darko.
Darko trying to keep a closed guard but Ruent is proving a slippery customer.
Ruent thows a big elbow that misses.
Ruent loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ruent looking to sit in guard and control but Darko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Darko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ruent has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Darko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruent is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ruent manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Darko manages to get himself to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Darko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ruent tries to free his leg and advance position but Darko is retaining full guard.
Ruent looking to sit in guard and control but Darko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ruent working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Darko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Darko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Darko uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ruent.

and Ruent counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ruentis looking to pass into half guard but Darko pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Darko is in guard.

Darko is looking to work some ground and pound but Ruent has wrist control.

Darko wants to control from the top but Ruent keeps moving.

Darko is sitting in close to Ruent's body. Ruent has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Darko is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Darko is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Ruent.
