PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Doc Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas comes to the cage accompanied by Lunatic Fringe by Red Ryder. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doc Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jason Turner!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Turner uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Thomas.
Turner throws a body punch but Thomas moves out of range.
Thomas looks to land a body kick but Turner moved away.
Turner looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range.
Turner keeps the fight on the outside.
Turner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thomas manages to avoid it.

Thomas misses with a leg kick.
Thomas thows a left - swing and a miss!
Thomas throws a series of punches but Turner moves out of range.
Thomas blocks a jab.
Thomas throws out a loose jab but Turner uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Turner cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Thomas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Turner manages to avoid it.
Turner lands an overhand right.
Thomas throws a half hearted mid kick.
Thomas lands with an overhand left.
Thomas scores with a head kick. Turner tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Turner throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Turner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thomas moves away.
Turner misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Thomas.
Thomas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Turner.
Turner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thomas.
Thomas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Turner misses with a body shot.
Turner throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Thomas sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Turner connects with a single shot there.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Thomas lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Turner has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Turner and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Thomas closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Turner's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Thomas with a flurry of punches that miss.
Turner wants to stand but Thomas is controlling the position.
Turner looking for a sweep. Not yet Turner, not yet.
Thomas thows a big elbow that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Turner keeps moving.
Thomas is looking to work some ground and pound but Turner has wrist control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Turner managing to control the position.
Thomas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Thomas is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Turner trying to keep a closed guard but Thomas is proving a slippery customer.
Thomas lands a couple of elbows.
Turner wants to sweep but no luck.
Turner is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Thomas in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Thomas trying to control but Turner is working from the bottom.
Turner is trying to keep Thomas in close.
Turner has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Turner keeping moving, preventing Thomas from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Turner avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Turner jabs Thomas to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Thomas misses with a body kick.
Turner scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Thomas loads up on a big right hand but Turner slips the punch.
Turner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thomas was well out of range. Poor timing from Turner.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A big right from Turner misses.
Thomas is trying hard to land a takedown here. Turner sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Turner scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Thomas doesn't seem bothered though.
A looping hook to the body misses from Turner. Thomas does a little dance to reset his feet.
Turner misses with a wild body shot.
Turner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thomas manages to avoid it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Thomas.

Turner keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Thomas.
Thomas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Thomas waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Turner.
Thomas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Turner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thomas moves away.
Turner bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Thomas avoids the body shot from Turner.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Doc Thomas will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jason Turner seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Thomas avoids the body shot from Turner.
Turner misses with a straight right.

and Thomas counters with a left to the body.
Nice defenses there by Turner.
Thomas lands with a straight right. Turner didn't see that one coming.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thomas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Turner thows a body shot but no joy.
Turner scores with a jab to the body.
Thomas misses with a body shot.
Thomas takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Turner swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Thomas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Thomas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Turner sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Thomas scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thomas tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Turner is looking for a sweep.
Turner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thomas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thomas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Turner is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Turner can't do much from the bottom here.

Thomas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Turner is looking for a sweep.
Thomas passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Turner!

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Turner tries to hold on but Thomas postures up.
Thomas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Turner wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Thomas.

Thomas is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Turner can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Turner tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Thomas tries to push Turner's head away but Turner is holding on tight.
Turner tries to lock up and control but Thomas gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Thomas is landing with some decent strikes but Turner is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Thomas connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Thomas unloads with some shots from mount but Turner bucks and avoids them well.
Thomas drops a big elbow. That's hurt Turner! More shots from Thomas and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Doc Thomas!
Doc Thomas decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
