Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jahangir Hooshmand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Sam Smith has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Jahangir Hooshmand! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hooshmand closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Smith's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Smith wants to stand and escape but Hooshmand is having none of it. Hooshmand trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hooshmand on the ground. Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith wants to stand but Hooshmand is controlling the position. Hooshmand trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hooshmand has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hooshmand prevents Smith from getting back to his feet. Hooshmand wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position. Hooshmand pushing down on Smith's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Smith wants to stand back up but Hooshmand manages to pass into side control.
Smith pushes Hooshmand away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hooshmand gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Hooshmand is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hooshmand thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hooshmand tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hooshmand has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Smith is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Hooshmand is working to tighten is grip on Smith's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Smith has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Hooshmand is really squeezing tight and eventually Smith passes out! Hooshmand breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
