Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brett Mystery! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cardio Machine! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machine misses with a low kick.
Machine is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mystery sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mystery drops Machine with a beautiful combination! Machine stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Mystery is looking for the KO!
It looks like Cardio Machine has been cut. Mystery shoots in looking for a takedown. Machine tries to sprawl out of it but Mystery keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Machine manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Mystery throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Machine was covering up waiting for the punch and Mystery finishes the takedown easily into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mystery trying to control the position from guard on top but Machine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mystery trying to stand up but can't free himself from Machine's guard. Machine pulls Mystery in close to his closed guard and prevents Mystery from doing any damage or advancing position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Machine can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Machine bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mystery's guard. Mystery working for a triangle but Machine defends it easily.
Machine slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Machine stands up over Mystery, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Machine controlling from the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mystery avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Machine tries to free his leg and advance position but Mystery is retaining full guard. Machine is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Mystery avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Machine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Machine works a leg free and moves into half guard. Machine is figuring out what he wants to do next. Machine moves into full mount! Mystery won't be happy about that! Mystery knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machine on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mystery tries to get back to half guard but can't. A nice elbow there by Machine. Machine controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mystery really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Machine controlling his opponent. Mystery tries to lock up and control but Machine gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Machine putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Mystery landing with some feeble shots from his back... He should probably try escaping the position instead. Machine looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Machine controlling from the full mount. Machine with the ground and pound from mount. Machine controlling the position easily from mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Machine lands a big shot there that rocks Mystery but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cardio Machine dominated that round. The cut man is working on Cardio Machine's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Mystery slaps away a takedown attempt from Machine, before circling back to the center of the mat. Mystery gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Machine decides to pull guard. Mystery missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Machine is on top in guard.
Mystery is looking to sweep but instead, Machine has passed into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Machine is thwarting Mystery's attempts to control the position. Machine throwing shots but Mystery is blocking nicely. Machine looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Machine is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Mystery is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
