Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Mad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carwin has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Don Mad will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shane Carwin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Don Mad! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carwin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mad. Carwin looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Carwin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carwin leaves Mad with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mad shoots in and drives through. Carwin sprawls well. Shane Carwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Mad. Mad has a takedown stuffed. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mad. Carwin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mad circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mad fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Mad looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Nice takedown defense from Mad. No joy for Carwin on that attempt. Mad tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carwin swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mad shoots in for a takedown but Carwin shows good takedown defense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carwin avoids a kick to the body.
Carwin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carwin wants it to stay on the feet. Mad throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mad throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Mad with a poor takedown and Carwin counters with a nice double leg into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Carwin postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mad throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mad shoots in looking for a takedown but Carwin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mad's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Carwin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mad shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carwin as he jumps to the side. Carwin shoots for a double leg takedown but Mad sprawls well. He's pushed Carwin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Carwin avoids a kick to the body.

That was a close round but I would say that Shane Carwin will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mad ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carwin moves away. Mad shoots for a double leg takedown but Carwin sprawls well. He's pushed Mad's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mad shoots in looking for a takedown. Carwin tries to sprawl out of it but Mad keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carwin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The fight stays on the outside here - Mad looks like he's thinking about clinching though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carwin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mad circles away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mad moves in looking to clinch but Carwin pushes him off. Mad fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Shane Carwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Mad. Mad fails with a takedown attempt. Mad tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carwin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mad somewhat. Shane Carwin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mad tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carwin swivels and escapes. Mad wants to clinch and Carwin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Carwin. Carwin controlling from the top position. Carwin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Carwin is working Mad over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carwin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mad has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carwin has managed to get both his arms back between Mad's legs - danger averted. Carwin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Carwin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Carwin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mad works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Carwin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mad has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Carwin prevents Mad from getting back to his feet. Carwin connects with a couple of short punches. Carwin content to stall in guard here.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Nice sprawl there from Carwin as Mad shoots in. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mad is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Carwin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Mad controls Carwin momentarily but Carwin frees himself. Carwin preventing the sweep. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carwin controls from within his opponent's guard. Carwin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mad changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carwin tries to avoid it but Mad manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carwin to the ground. Carwin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Shane Carwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Mad. Mad tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Carwin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Mad fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Mad tries to clinch but Carwin moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carwin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mad decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mad seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Carwin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carwin tries to get out of the position. Still in half guard, Mad seems content to control. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Don Mad was stalling too much, according to the referee. Mad fails with a takedown attempt. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carwin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mad avoids it really well and circles away.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Don Mad. I think Carwin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
