Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Archie Parchi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Jones! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parchi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Parchi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Parchi stops Jones from standing up. Jones kicks Parchi off and gets to his feet. Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Jones wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Parchi manages to pass to side control. Parchi trying to mount his opponent but Jones defends it. Parchi throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones wants to improve his position but Parchi is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Parchi is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Parchi is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Parchi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Parchi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Jones is looking for a sweep. Parchi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Still in half guard, Parchi seems content to control. Parchi thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Jones tries to roll over but Parchi keeps him under control. Jones taking some punishment here, with Parchi in his half guard. Parchi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parchi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Parchi landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Parchi connects with a nice short shot to Jones's temple. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Parchi thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Jones is not content to let Parchi control the position. Parchi missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Parchi with the ground and pound but Jones uses the opportunity to regain guard. Parchi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones looking to control.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parchi is one step ahead there. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Peter Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee. Parchi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones. Jones tries for a takedown but Parchi circles away easily and Parchi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Parchi is breathing heavily. Parchi is looking to advance position but Jones won't allow it. Parchi winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones wants to get back to his feet. Jones works his way to full guard. Good work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones wants to sweep but no luck. Jones trying to control the position.

Parchi looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Parchi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Parchi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Jones keeping control of the position. Parchi lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Jones is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Parchi scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parchi is thwarting Jones's attempts to control the position. Parchi is looking to advance position but Jones won't allow it. Jones trying to control but Parchi postures up.
Parchi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Peter Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Jones shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Parchi is trying to defend but Jones finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Parchi trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Jones throws a strike but Parchi avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Parchi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Parchi wriggles free and stands up. Jones rushes Parchi and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. A hook to the body from Jones.
Jones lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jones tries to stand but can't do so whilst Parchi controls his leg. Parchi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Parchi tries to get out of the position. Jones trying to control from half guard but Parchi is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Parchi is trying to get back to full guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Parchi won't allow Jones to pass to mount.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Peter Jones wasn't active enough on the ground. Jones closes the distance and clinches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Parchi has Jones pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Jones takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Parchi pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

A close second round but Peter Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Parchi sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and Parchi counters with a nice double leg into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parchi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Parchi is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control. Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parchi is one step ahead there. Jones keeping moving, preventing Parchi from controlling successfully. Parchi with a flurry of punches that miss. Parchi trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Jones wants to stand up but Parchi is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parchi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones controls Parchi momentarily but Parchi frees himself.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Parchi has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Archie Parchi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. Jones's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jones duly obliges. Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Parchi but Parchi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Parchi as he avoids it easily. Parchi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Parchi showed some decent athleticism there. Parchi slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead. Jones wants to improve his position but Parchi is controlling well.
