The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wannabe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alvarez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alvarez takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Wannabe swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Alvarez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Wannabe misses with a lunging right hand
and Alvarez counters with a solid body kick.
Alvarez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wannabe swivels and escapes.
Alvarez throws a shot to the body.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Akuun Wannabe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Alvarez.
Alvarez moves in looking to clinch but Wannabe pushes him off.
Wannabe shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wannabe showed some decent athleticism there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Wannabe is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alvarez sees it coming and defends easily.

Well, if Wannabe is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Wannabe has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Alvarez defend it? Wannabe steps over the head and cranks it - Alvarez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Wannabe!
