PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kazaki Fujita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Monstra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fujita comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica-Enter Sandman. Monstra comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Slayer - Hate Worldwide kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Kazaki Fujita has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kazaki Fujita seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kazaki Fujita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcus Monstra!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monstra feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Fujita's calf.
Nice defenses there by Fujita.
Monstra misses with a low kick.
Monstra with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Monstra throws a lazy right hand but Fujita sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Monstra misses with a looping right.
Monstra throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fujita sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Fujita is looking to land body kicks.
Monstra pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Monstra attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Monstra takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fujita shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Monstra looks to score with a jab to the body but Fujita is just out of range.
Marcus Monstra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monstra swings for the body but Fujita moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monstra throws a lazy right hand but Fujita sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Marcus Monstra is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fujita checks a low kick from Monstra.
Fujita tries to clinch but Monstra is having none of it.
Fujita blocks a jab.
Monstra lands a jab to the head.


It looks like Kazaki Fujita has been cut.
Monstra takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Fujita fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Monstra.

Fujita closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fujita wants to control for a moment but Monstra uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Fujita throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monstra blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fujita.
Monstra is trying to maintain the position but Fujita is very close to passing his half guard.
Fujita trying to mount his opponent but Monstra defends it.
Fujita is just content to waste time from the top position. Monstra takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monstra looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fujita is one step ahead there.
Fujita has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fujita in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Monstra can't keep his opponent in guard - Fujita advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Fujita sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Monstra defending well though.
Monstra keeping control of the position.
Fujita stalling away here and it's allowed Monstra to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Monstra trying to keep a closed guard but Fujita is proving a slippery customer.
Fujita trying to control but Monstra is working from the bottom.
Fujita throwing strikes from guard but Monstra blocks nicely.
Fujita throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Monstra works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fujita throws a strike but Monstra rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fujita holds on and takes a little breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Marcus Monstra will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Kazaki Fujita's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Monstra works Fujita's body with a nice hook.
Monstra throws a big shot that misses.
A big right from Fujita misses.
Monstra uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fujita.
Monstra wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Nice straight punches there by Monstra. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Monstra.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oooooh!!! Monstra has knocked Fujita down with a huge combo! Monstra steps away and waves a wobbly Fujita back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Monstra throws out a leg kick but Fujita moves out of range and Monstra only half commits.
Monstra lunges at Fujita with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Fujita's hand.
Monstra misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Monstra lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


Fujita is rocked!
Monstra fakes the body blow, causing Fujita to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Fujita goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marcus Monstra!
Marcus Monstra bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
