Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Bizzle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Bizzle!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bizzle fails with the takedown
and Shields counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shields lands some shots froms side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shields is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bizzle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bizzle has one of Shields's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Bizzle is trying to get back to half guard.
Shields grinds an elbow into Bizzle's temple.

Shields connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bizzle some visible discomfort.
Shields is looking to take a break and control but Bizzle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Shields has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shields trying to control the position from guard on top but Bizzle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bizzle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shields defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bizzle wants to stand but Shields is controlling the position.

Bizzle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shields missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Shields looking to sit in guard and control but Bizzle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shields working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bizzle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bizzle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bizzle throws a strike but Shields rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Shields stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bizzle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bizzle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bizzle tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shields knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shields is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bizzle is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A slow jab from Bizzle misses its intended target.
Bizzle showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shields.
Shields shoots in looking for a takedown. Bizzle tries to sprawl out of it but Shields keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bizzle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bizzle waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Shields.

Shields is looking for a sweep. Bizzle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Shields is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bizzle sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shields's guard.
Bizzle tries to stand and escape but Shields is controlling the position.
Bizzle is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Shields is pressing down on Bizzle's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Shields tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bizzle forces his way into half guard.
Shields gets full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shields manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bizzle manages to get himself to full guard.
Bizzle throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Bizzle manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Shields shoots in for a takedown but Bizzle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Shields. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shields is defended easily by Bizzle.
Bizzle fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shields to the ground. Bizzle is now in Shields's guard.

Shields is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bizzle rolls with it to try and escape but Shields cranks on the arm and Bizzle is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
