Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Succus Matarazzo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fedor Pain! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pain takes one to the side of the head.
It looks like Fedor Pain has been cut. Pain shoots in but Matarazzo avoids the takedown attempt easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Matarazzo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Pain moves out of range of the body kick from Matarazzo.
Matarazzo doesn't manage to clinch there - Pain circles away.
Matarazzo has his takedown stuffed and Pain counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Pain looking to pass the guard. Matarazzo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pain is controlling him. Pain chips away with some ground and pound. Matarazzo trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
That's one minute gone in the round. Pain tries to free his leg and advance position but Matarazzo is retaining full guard. Matarazzo is trying to keep Pain in close.
Pain stands and throws Matarazzo's legs to the side, diving into side control. Matarazzo is trying to control Pain's posture but Pain avoids it. Pain tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Pain tries to move to mount but Matarazzo blocks the move with his legs. Matarazzo is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Matarazzo takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matarazzo has control of an arm but Pain manages to advance to Pain's back! A lull in the action here.
Pain looks gassed! Matarazzo wants to get back to his feet. Pain has the hooks in. Matarazzo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Pain tries to get the hooks in deep but Matarazzo pushed the leg off. Pain throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Matarazzo!
Pain lands shots from the back. Matarazzo can't escape the position.
Matarazzo is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Matarazzo wants to control his opponent's hands but Pain gets his hands free. Pain trying to control. Pain scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Matarazzo is looking for a way out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pain is hanging on to Matarazzo's back as he tries to escape.
Matarazzo is trying to stand back up. You can see the frustration on Matarazzo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Pain has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Matarazzo is in real trouble here. Pain gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Matarazzo is tapping out! Pain wins by rear naked choke!
