And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nil Sorsky!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stroony tries a head kick but it misses.
Stroony really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sorsky tries to clinch up

and Stroony counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Stroony will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sorsky up against the cage.
Stroony utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Stroony lands an elbow inside that Sorsky shrugs off.
Stroony prevents the takedown attempt.

Stroony breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sorsky gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Stroony to score an easy takedown into full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Nil Sorsky is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Stroony has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sorsky regains guard immediately.
Stroony is fighting to break Sorsky's control of his arms but Sorsky is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Stroony is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stroony closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sorsky quickly recovers to half guard.

Sorsky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Stroony shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Sorsky tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Stroony has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sorsky tries to improve his position but instead Stroony has taken his back!

Stroony shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sorsky defends it nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stroony.
Stroony throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Sorsky holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Stroony jumps guard but Sorsky stands there with Stroony around his waist. Stroony gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sorsky changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stroony fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sorsky uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stroony.

The fight stays on the outside here - Stroony looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kevin Stroony.
Well Stroony has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
