The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hornblower.
Pettis dips to his left and cracks Hornblower with an uppercut!
Some wild striking there from Pettis.
Hornblower shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hornblower working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pettis's head.
Pettis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hornblower. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hornblower has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pettis can do anything to dispel that myth.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hornblower connects with a nice short shot to Pettis's temple.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hornblower in particular looking to stall.
