The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez wants to clinch but Barry slips to the side

and Barry decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gomez's guard.
Barry tries to free his leg and advance position but Gomez is retaining full guard.
Barry is standing up over Gomez. Gomez looks to escape but Barry dives into side control.
Barry connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gomez some visible discomfort.
Barry cracks Gomez with a big right hand but Gomez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Barry is trying to trip Gomez. He has hold of a leg but Gomez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Barry persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Barry is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gomez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gomez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Barry has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Barry has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Gomez is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Barry yanks on the arm and Gomez is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Barry.
