Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kale Ravenal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, David Shango! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ravenal throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
David Shango seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shango closes the distance and clinches. Shango breaks the clinch.
Shango ducks under a wild hook from Ravenal. A punch combination from Shango misses. Ravenal lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Shango misses with a straight right. Shango pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ravenal. The fighters circle momentarily. Shango darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. The crowd cheers as Shango lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ravenal doesn't seem phased though. Shango misses with a double jab.

Shango looks to clinch and Ravenal counters with an inside leg kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shango thuds his right hand into Ravenal's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shango tries to close the distance and clinch but Ravenal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A left lands for Shango. Shango throws the left hand but Ravenal avoids the punch easily. Ravenal feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Shango keeping moving, preventing Ravenal from controlling successfully. Shango is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ravenal is controlling him. Shango really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ravenal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Shango has his feet on Ravenal's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Danga de danga de dang - Shango scores with a four punch combination! Shango throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ravenal ducks right into an uppercut from Shango. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ravenal avoids the body shot from Shango.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ravenal lands a lovely overhand right. Shango throws a right hand that Ravenal ducks under and follows up with a left that Ravenal also avoids with ease. Ravenal shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shango as he jumps to the side. Ravenal pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Ravenal throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Ravenal throws a hook but Shango blocks it. A looping hook to the body misses from Shango. Ravenal does a little dance to reset his feet. A clash of legs there as Shango blocks the low kick. Ravenal bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shango is trying to get back to his feet. Shango looks gassed! Ravenal misses with the ground and pound. Shango takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shango can do anything to dispel that myth. Shango wants to get back to his feet but Ravenal drags him back down. Shango taking punishment in the form of punches.
Shango is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ravenal asserts his dominance and retains side control. Ravenal content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Ravenal wants to control but Shango is keeping him busy. Ravenal taking a breather here. Ravenal creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Shango sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shango parries the strikes from Ravenal easily there. Ravenal is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Shango to escape.
Shango wants to get back to his feet but Ravenal drags him back down. Ravenal trying to control the action but Shango is working from the bottom. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ravenal working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ravenal sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Shango is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Shango is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Ravenal grinds an elbow into Shango's temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kale Ravenal dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kale Ravenal's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Shango lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ravenal circles away quickly and effectively. Shango swings for the body but Ravenal moves out of range.

Ravenal manages to break the clinch.
Ravenal lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shango on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shango fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Ravenal tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ravenal loads up on a big right hand but Shango slips the punch.
