Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Ryrik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dennis Stonefield! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryrik throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Ryrik will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. No luck with that takedown attempt from Stonefield. Ryrik is looking to clinch. Ryrik shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stonefield as he avoids it easily. Ryrik misses with a head kick.
Stonefield throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ryrik's waist but Ryrik gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stonefield off to one side. Dennis Stonefield seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A slow jab from Ryrik misses its intended target. Ryrik pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stonefield bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Ryrik is trying to control Stonefield's posture but Stonefield avoids it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryrik is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Stonefield has just dragged him back down to the mat. Stonefield is looking to take a break and control but Ryrik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Check out the look on Stonefield's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stonefield tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Stonefield trying to control the action but Ryrik is working from the bottom. Ryrik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stonefield on the ground. Stonefield tries for a kimura but Ryrik is defending well. Ryrik managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Stonefield.
Stonefield working away. Stonefield is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ryrik knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryrik is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Ryrik is looking to regain half guard here but Stonefield keeps moving and retains side control. Stonefield is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ryrik is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Stonefield tries for a kimura but Ryrik is defending well. Ryrik is trying to improve his position.

That is naaassty. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Stonefield has eaten all the pies! Ryrik is breathing heavily. Stonefield is trying to get an arm triangle but Ryrik is defending well. Stonefield goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ryrik rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Stonefield's guard! Nice work there by Ryrik! Stonefield pulls Ryrik in close to his closed guard and prevents Ryrik from doing any damage or advancing position.

Ryrik stands up from guard. Let's bang! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Stonefield closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ryrik quickly recovers to half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Stonefield working the head and body with strikes. Stonefield seems to be working for a kimura but Ryrik defends the submission attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dennis Stonefield dominated that round. That's time! Ryrik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Stonefield tries for a takedown but Ryrik sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Stonefield shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Stonefield sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Ryrik tries to hold on but Stonefield pushes him away. Ryrik is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stonefield is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Ryrik is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Stonefield scoring with strikes but Ryrik is staying in there. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Stonefield cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
It looks like Sergey Ryrik has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stonefield is working for a guillotine from mount but Ryrik frees his head quite easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stonefield landing strikes from the mount. Stonefield is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ryrik has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Stonefield breaks from Ryrik's wrist control and lands an elbow. Ryrik tries to get back to half guard but can't. Stonefield is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ryrik has managed to escape the submission attempt.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Ryrik looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Stonefield! Submission of the night perhaps?
