Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is My Ding-a-ling. The crowd seem to be enjoying Hughes's choice of entrance music: Country boy can survive. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcus Monk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ratt Hughes! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Monk checks it well. Hughes throws a front kick aimed at Monk's knee but Monk avoids it well. Hughes takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Monk lands a head kick. Hughes smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Nice body punch from Hughes. Hughes scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Monk connects with a leg kick. Hughes looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Hughes avoids the head kick by Monk.
Hughes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Monk.
A jab from Monk finds it's way through Hughes's defenses. Hughes dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Monk. That did some damage! Hughes motions for Monk to come forward. Hughes throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes throws a front kick aimed at Monk's knee but Monk avoids it well. Monk leaves Hughes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A solid leg kick lands there for Hughes.
Hughes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hughes connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A nice leg kick lands there from Hughes. Hughes connects with a leg kick. Monk looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Hughes cracks Monk with a right hand to the side of the head. Hughes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Monk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hughes is in Monk's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Hughes postures up and lands a big shot to Monk's brow. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hughes preventing the sweep. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hughes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hughes pushing down on Monk's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hughes misses with a head shot. Monk uses the momentum to regain guard. Monk keeping moving, preventing Hughes from controlling successfully. Hughes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Monk's guard. Hughes is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Monk tries to get back to half guard but can't. Monk is bucking up trying to escape but Hughes cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Hughes scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hughes misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hughes tries to control but Monk wriggling away. The referee warns Monk that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Hughes unloads with some shots from mount but Monk bucks and avoids them well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hughes working Monk over with strikes here. Monk tries to hold on but Hughes postures up. Hughes lands a big shot there that rocks Monk but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Monk is rocked! Hughes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hughes postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Monk bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Hughes and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ratt Hughes!
