The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grant gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Billiards counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Billiards is taking a breather. Grant says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Grant is looking to improve his position.
Billiards controlling the action here. Grant tries to roll over but Billiards keeps him under control. Grant could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Billiards is controlling the pace.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Money Billiards hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Billiards looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Grant is fending him off so far but Billiards persists. Nope, Grant circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Billiards darts in and clinches Grant up against the cage. Grant stops a takedown attempt from Billiards.

Billiards is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Grant pulls guard. Grant wants to sweep but no luck. Billiards has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Grant is proving hard to escape from. Billiards is stalling in the full guard. Billiards trying to control the position from guard on top but Grant is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Money Billiards hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Billiards looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Billiards performing his best blanket impression for a moment. This has been an exciting period of action! Grant is trying to get back to full guard. Billiards postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Grant to stand up. Grant throws a head kick that misses. Billiards connects with a body shot. Grant is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Billiards is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Horrible takedown by Billiards or perhaps it was just good defense by Grant which made him look bad. Chris Grant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Money Billiards. Billiards tries to clinch up. Billiards is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Billiards misses with a body kick. Billiards fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Grant avoids it really well and circles away. Billiards throws the kick towards the body but Grant avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Billiards scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Billiards not doing much here.
Billiards has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Grant is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Grant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Grant wants to hold on but Billiards pushes him away. Grant on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Grant tries to get out of the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Grant has given up his back. Will we see Billiards going for some submissions?
Grant is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! It looks like Billiards might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Money Billiards dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Billiards has closed the distance and engaged Grant in a clinch.
Billiards breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Grant misses with a double jab.
Billiards shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grant but Grant pushes him off and we're back to square one. Billiards wants to clinch up but Grant keeps it at a distance. Billiards doesn't manage to clinch there - Grant circles away.
Billiards clinches up with Grant and pushes him back against the cage. Grant has had enough of the clinch but Billiards keeps him there for the moment. Billiards pulls Grant into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grant wants to control from the top but Billiards keeps moving. Grant looking to sit in guard and control but Billiards gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Billiards trying to control but Grant is working from the bottom. Billiards controls from within his opponent's guard. Billiards passes easily into side control. Nice work. Money Billiards has got the better of the ground game so far. Billiards takes a little break here. Grant wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Grant wants to control but Billiards postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Billiards tries to move to mount but Grant blocks the move with his legs. Grant is letting Billiards control him for a moment. Grant struggling a bit here. Billiards moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Money Billiards wasn't active enough on the ground. Grant closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Billiards regains half guard there - taking advantage of Grant's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Grant wants to advance to full mount but Billiards doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Grant avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Billiards working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Grant doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Grant manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grant wants to get up but he can't break Billiards's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Grant is posturing up here but Billiards has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Grant tries to roll out but it's too tight and Grant has to tap! Slick submission there by Billiards!
