Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and EJ Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes to the cage accompanied by Ante up Remix. EJ Sanchez has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Marcus Brooks's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, EJ Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brooks gets the takedown into side control.
Brooks could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Brooks looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Brooks wants to control but Sanchez is keeping him busy.
Sanchez is looking to reverse the position.
Brooks in the domination position with Sanchez hanging on.

Brooks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sanchez, who protects the arm well.
Sanchez is looking for a sweep.

Sanchez bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Sanchez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brooks sprawls well initially but Sanchez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Brooks won't allow Sanchez to pass to mount.
Sanchez is tying to control. Brooks wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sanchez moves nicely into side control.

Sanchez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura but Brooks is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sanchez to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brooks tries to roll over but Sanchez keeps him under control.
Brooks is trying to maintain the position but Sanchez is very close to passing his half guard.
Brooks tries to get to full guard but Sanchez has control of the leg.
Brooks is working hard here to advance position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A combination from Brooks does no damage.
Brooks fails with the takedown

and Sanchez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Brooks's guard now.
Brooks doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sanchez trying to control but Brooks is working from the bottom.
Sanchez is stalling in the full guard.

Brooks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sanchez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sanchez wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving.
Brooks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sanchez advances to half guard.

Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Brooks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sanchez is trying to work for a kimura but Brooks is defending well.

Sanchez postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Brooks to stand up.

Nice takedown defense from Brooks. No joy for Sanchez on that attempt.
Brooks misses with a takedown

and Sanchez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sanchez.
Sanchez has Brooks pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Brooks manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Brooks gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Sanchez actively working from the bottom here.
Brooks is trying to control the action in half guard but Sanchez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Sanchez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Brooks shoots and misses

and Sanchez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Sanchez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Brooks keeping full guard, as Sanchez tries to pass.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brooks working a defensive guard but Sanchez manages to pass into side control anyway.
Sanchez tries to advance to mount but Brooks denies him.
Brooks manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Brooks is looking for a kimura here.
Brooks is looking to stall here but Sanchez recovers full guard.
Sanchez throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Sanchez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sanchez uses his free foot to push down on Brooks's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brooks.
Brooks has given up his back. Will we see Sanchez going for some submissions?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez is working the ground and pound. Can Brooks escape?

Sanchez tightening his grip on Brooks, looking for the choke.

Sanchez working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
I really don't envy Brooks right now.
Sanchez cracks Brooks with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Brooks from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Brooks wants to escape the position.
Sanchez wants to control but Brooks is keeping busy.
Sanchez doesn't have the hooks in and Brooks manages to turn into his guard.
Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Brooks decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Sanchez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Brooks's guard now.
EJ Sanchez has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brooks has his foot on Sanchez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sanchez works his way back into a safe position though.
Sanchez stands and throws Brooks's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Sanchez tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Sanchez decides to stand back up. Sanchez steps back and let's Brooks get back to his feet.
Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No luck for Sanchez with that takedown attempt.

Sanchez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Brooks tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Brooks is really stuck here.
Brooks grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Sanchez working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Brooks breaks Sanchez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sanchez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brooks's guard.
Brooks has momentary wrist control but Sanchez slips an elbow through the middle.

Sanchez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sanchez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sanchez advances to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

EJ Sanchez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Sanchez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sanchez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Brooks looking for a guillotine here but Sanchez defends easily.
Sanchez passes Brooks's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Brooks tries to get to full guard but Sanchez has control of the leg.
Brooks is looking to control Sanchez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brooks avoid being mounted?
Brooks is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Sanchez tries to pass to full mount but Brooks defends it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sanchez wants to work for an arm triangle but Brooks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sanchez wants to advance to full mount but Brooks doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Sanchez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sanchez drops back looking for a leg! Brooks is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brooks manages to kick Sanchez off! Sanchez jumps back into Brooks's guard.
Sanchez advances to half guard.
Brooks wants to control but Sanchez is keeping busy.
Sanchez passes to side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Brooks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sanchez lands an elbow.

Sanchez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Brooks tries to buck Sanchez off but Sanchez is having none of it.
Sanchez landing strikes.
Sanchez trying to control the action but Brooks is working from the bottom.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sanchez connects with a nice short shot to Brooks's temple.

Sanchez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brooks is just riding it out for now. Sanchez eventually gives up the hold.
Brooks is not content to let Sanchez control the position.
Brooks wants to get back to full guard.

Brooks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sanchez not doing much here.
Sanchez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sanchez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Brooks!
Brooks is looking to improve his position but Sanchez isn't that keen on the idea.

Sanchez looking for a guillotine from mount but Brooks is having none of it.
Brooks throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

Sanchez working for a submission but Brooks is keeping him at bay.
Sanchez trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brooks slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Marcus Brooks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sanchez blocks the strikes from Brooks.

EJ Sanchez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Sanchez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
