Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kelsey Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alpha Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kelsey Curtis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alpha Dog! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Curtis fails to land the takedown. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Curtis is defended easily by Dog. Dog keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Curtis. Curtis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dog circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kelsey Curtis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dog shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Curtis's guard. Curtis controls Dog momentarily but Dog frees himself. Dog drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Curtis dives on top into guard. Dog working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Curtis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Curtis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dog looking for a guillotine here but Curtis defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Curtis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dog has momentary wrist control but Curtis slips an elbow through the middle. Dog looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Curtis is in close to Dog's body, working some short punches and elbows. Dog can't keep his opponent in guard - Curtis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Dog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Nice strikes from Curtis there. Curtis lands with a punch from half guard. Dog makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dog. Curtis throwing strikes but missing. Dog keeping full guard, as Curtis tries to pass. Curtis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Curtis wants to control from the top but Dog keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dog tries to land a sweep but no joy. Dog has his foot on Curtis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Curtis works his way back into a safe position though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Dog is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Curtis defends well. Curtis tries to free his leg and advance position but Dog is retaining full guard. Curtis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. That's three minutes gone in the round. Dog lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Curtis! Curtis regains half guard. Curtis controlling the position well. Curtis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Curtis. Curtis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Curtis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Curtis wants to improve his position but instead Dog has moved into half guard.

Curtis gets full guard. Dog stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Curtis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Curtis is controlling Dog's posture. Dog trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Curtis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dog postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Curtis is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dog, into his guard. Curtis won't allow Dog to sweep him here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dog looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Dog shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dog was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Dog prevents Curtis from getting the reversal. Dog is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Curtis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Curtis! Curtis trying to control but Dog is working from the bottom. Dog is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Dog is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Curtis is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Dog has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Curtis is looking to defend but Dog has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Curtis! Dog pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Curtis taps out and this one is all over!
