Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Montana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montana comes to the cage accompanied by Glass Joe. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Montana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Sparks! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sparks thows a leg kick but Montana checks it and Montana counters with a nice body shot. Sparks fails with a takedown attempt. Sparks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Montana moves away. Sparks throws a combination that misses and Montana counters by clinching up. Montana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Darren Sparks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Montana checks the leg kick. Montana steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sparks. Montana lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Montana uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sparks.
Sparks with a lazy takedown attempt and Montana counters with a two punch combo. Montana moves into the clinch successfully.

Joe Montana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darren Sparks. Sparks has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Montana after a bit of a struggle. Montana displaying some good clinch control by pressing Sparks up against the cage. Knees in the clinch landing for Montana.
Sparks is looking for a takedown. Sparks is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Montana is defending well. Montana pulls guard successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sparks passes Montana's left leg - he's now in half guard. Sparks is looking to advance position but Montana won't allow it. Montana regains full guard. Nicely done. Sparks trying to control but Montana is working from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Montana is on top in guard.
Montana content to stall in guard here. Montana wants to control from the top but Sparks keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sparks looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Montana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sparks is keeping the position for now. Sparks can't keep his opponent in guard - Montana advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sparks tries to kick Montana off but Montana keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Montana is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Montana is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sparks defends it well. Sparks wants to improve his position but Montana is controlling well.
Montana missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Sparks avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Montana. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Montana tries to pass to full mount but Sparks defends it. Montana is trying to control. Sparks wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Montana dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Montana stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Montana wants it to stay on the feet. Sparks closes the distance and clinches up with Montana, looking for a takedown. Sparks pushes Montana against the cage but Montana circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Montana shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sparks sprawls well. Sparks wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Montana gets slowly back to his feet. Montana gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Montana pulls Sparks in close to his closed guard and prevents Sparks from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparks tries to free his leg and advance position but Montana is retaining full guard. Sparks wants to control from the top but Montana keeps moving. Sparks wants to get up but he can't break Montana's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Montana checks a leg kick. Montana misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sparks doesn't succeed with the takedown and Montana counters with a shoot takedown. Sparks fights it but they end up in guard. Joe Montana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darren Sparks. Montana trying to control but Sparks is working from the bottom. Sparks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Montana controls the pace. Montana trying to control the position from guard on top but Sparks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sparks is keeping the position for now.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Joe Montana just wasn't active enough. Montana fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sparks looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Montana bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sparks misses with a combination
and Montana cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sparks fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Sparks avoids the body shot from Montana.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montana wants to clinch up but Sparks keeps it at a distance. Montana fails with a takedown attempt. Sparks throws a combination that misses and Montana counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Sparks throws an overhand right that lands on Montana's shoulder, as Montana tries to avoid the shot. Nice takedown defense from Montana. No joy for Sparks on that attempt. Sparks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Montana counters with a lovely shot to the body. Sparks is breathing heavily. Montana will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A jab from Sparks misses. Montana doesn't manage to clinch there - Sparks circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sparks throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Montana connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Sparks misses with a double jab
and Montana counters with a head kick. A punch combination from Sparks misses. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sparks. Montana lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sparks misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sparks needs to keep his hands up - Montana had a free shot at his head there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sparks swinging wildly here.

Joe Montana dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Sparks misses with a lunging right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Sparks shoots in for a takedown but Montana shows good takedown defense. Montana throws a nice outside leg kick. Montana connects with a body shot that sends Sparks's belly button to the back. Sparks misses with a leg kick and Montana makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Sparks will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Montana working Sparks over with knees to the body.

Montana misses with a knee strike.
Montana is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. A short uppercut from Montana. Sparks has hold of one of Montana's legs. Montana is fighting the takedown attempt but Sparks gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Sparks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Montana seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Sparks preventing the sweep. Sparks trying to control but Montana is working from the bottom. Sparks tries to free his leg and advance position but Montana is retaining full guard. Sparks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montana wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Joe Montana overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sparks tries to bum rush Montana with a series of wild strikes but Montana uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sparks throws a sloppy body shot
and Montana counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sparks thinking. Montana scores a takedown into full mount! This has been an exciting period of action! Montana prevents Sparks from getting the reversal. Montana has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sparks's face.
Montana tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montana is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Montana is looking to slow Sparks down with leg kicks. Joe Montana is winning the standup battle so far. Montana shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sparks napping and manages to drive through into side control! Sparks tries to improve position but can't. Montana is looking to take a break and control but Sparks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. A lull in the action here. Sparks is looking to regain half guard here but Montana keeps moving and retains side control. Sparks is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Montana is controlling him well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sparks takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Montana tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sparks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Montana wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Montana working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Sparks tries to get back to half guard but can't. Darren Sparks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Joe Montana is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sparks is trying to escape the position but Montana is controlling the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Montana showed his dominance in that final round. Well Montana has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
