Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Jefferson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thiago Paxio!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paxio closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jefferson circles away.
Paxio moves out of range of the leg kick from Jefferson.

Paxio moves into the clinch successfully.
Jefferson trying to stall but Paxio improves his position.
Jefferson seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Paxio is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Maybe Jefferson would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.
Paxio keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jefferson's efforts to push away.
Paxio has Jefferson pressed against the ropes, preventing Jefferson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Paxio looking for a takedown.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Jefferson stalling in the clinch.

Paxio manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Jefferson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Paxio wants to sweep here but Jefferson controlling him for the moment.
Jefferson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Paxio is pulling down on Jefferson's head. It's preventing any offense from Jefferson, at least for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because John Jefferson just wasn't active enough.

Paxio closes the distance and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Jefferson's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Jefferson is trying to maintain a safe position but Paxio gets an underhook and turns Jefferson into the ropes.

John Jefferson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Paxio.
Jefferson is looking to control Paxio's arms but Paxio gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jefferson has his back to the ropes.

Paxio has hold of one of Jefferson's legs. Jefferson is fighting the takedown attempt but Paxio gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Paxio is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Paxio sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jefferson's guard.
Paxio wants to free his trapped foot but Jefferson is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Paxio is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Paxio is looking for a kimura but Jefferson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Paxio to get the leverage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jefferson won't allow Paxio to pass to mount.

Paxio is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jefferson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Paxio moves into full mount! Jefferson won't be happy about that!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Paxio with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Jefferson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paxio on the ground.

Paxio looking to secure an arm triangle but Jefferson defends it well.

Paxio has control of Jefferson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jefferson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jefferson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Paxio is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jefferson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Paxio is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Paxio working for a guillotine from mount but Jefferson is in no mood to give up.
Jefferson can't escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Paxio looking to isolate an arm here. Jefferson doesn't see it coming and as Paxio extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Paxio!
