Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joaquim Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike McKinley! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams tries to clinch there but McKinley circles away.
Williams walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Williams looks to clinch and McKinley counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Williams is lucky that one didn't land flush. McKinley throws a nice inside leg kick. McKinley lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Williams is looking to clinch. McKinley pushing out the jab but it's not landing. The fighters circle momentarily. McKinley darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Williams closes the distance and clinches. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McKinley blocks the elbow strike.
Williams pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. McKinley blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Williams lands a nice elbow. McKinley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Williams tries to clinch but McKinley is having none of it. McKinley scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. McKinley chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Williams can pounce on him.
That's one minute gone in the round. McKinley looks to land a right hand but Williams moved out of range. McKinley lands with a kick to the temple. Williams shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Williams wants to clinch and McKinley counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Williams rushes McKinley and presses him up against the cage. McKinley tries to land a knee to the head but Williams blocks with his arms.

McKinley blocks an elbow strike. McKinley stalling in the clinch but Williams improves position. McKinley blocks the elbow strike.
Williams trying to control the position but instead, McKinley has worked for underhooks and has pushed Williams into the cage. Williams using the Thai plumb to throw knees but McKinley has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McKinley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Williams takes a shot right to the bread basket. McKinley throws a leg kick which misses Williams's front leg but catches the back leg as Williams tries to avoid it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Williams tries to close the distance and clinch but McKinley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Williams fails in his attempt to clinch. Williams has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McKinley finds it's way round the side to connect with Williams's head. Williams moves to clinch but McKinley breaks away and McKinley counters with a good low kick that Williams was not able to check. McKinley lands a leg kick that knocks Williams off balance momentarily. McKinley connects with a leg kick. Williams looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Williams is breathing heavily. A cross from McKinley lands. McKinley punishes Williams's body with a nice straight punch. McKinley scores with a punch to the head. McKinley throws a shot to the body.
Williams thows a leg kick but McKinley checks it and McKinley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. McKinley is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Williams had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams wants to clinch and Williams takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McKinley throws a nice inside leg kick. Williams tries to work over McKinley's front leg with a kick but McKinley checks it. McKinley lands a jab to the head.
Williams takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. A lazy body kick from Williams enabling McKinley to counter with a crisp jab.
Williams is rocked! McKinley fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Williams to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Williams looks to clinch but McKinley throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Williams taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Mike McKinley! After winning the bout, Mike McKinley thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
