PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maito Poika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Maito Poika!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Parker!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker swings for the body but Poika moves out of range.
Poika looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Poika throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Parker counters with a left to the body.

Parker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Poika's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Parker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Parker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Poika wants to stand up but Parker is controlling him.
Parker is in close to Poika's body, working some short punches and elbows.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Parker postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Poika is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parker is controlling him.
Parker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Poika works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Parker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Parker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Poika is keeping the position for now.
Poika is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Parker postures up in Poika's guard and throws a big left but Poika blocks it.

Parker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Parker connects with a couple of short punches.
Poika is looking to stand up but Parker isn't so interested in that idea.
Poika looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parker is one step ahead there.
Poika bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Parker's guard.
Parker is controlling Poika's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Parker can do anything to dispel that myth.

Poika wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving.
Parker wants to stand up but Poika is controlling him.
Poika controls from within his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Parker scores with a punch to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Parker moves out of range of the leg kick from Poika.
Poika staying out of range there.
Parker thuds a left hand into Poika's body.
Parker moves out of range as Poika strikes.
Good leg kick by Poika there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Poika looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Poika tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Parker scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Parker thows a left - swing and a miss!
Poika takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


Poika is rocked!
Parker cracks a nice hook into Poika's ribs.
Oh Poika is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Poika is breathing heavily.
Parker lands with a good body shot.
Poika seems to have got his legs back now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Parker! Poika is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Parker!
Frank Parker very nearly forgot to thank Wolfpack Blood Labs amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
