Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Avila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Louis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Louis!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Louis clinches up against the cage.
Louis lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Avila backwards.
A left hand lands to the body for Louis.
Still in the clinch, Louis scores with a nice short uppercut.
Avila can't break the clinch.
Louis keeps control of Avila as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Louis throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Avila tries to break free but Louis pushes him back against the cage.

Louis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Avila has his takedown stuffed

and Louis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Louis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Louis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Louis.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Michael Louis was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Louis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Louis is looking to pass Avila's guard but actually Avila recovers to full guard.

Louis working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Louis trying to move into half guard but instead Avila has managed to sweep!
Louis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Avila. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Louis wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Avila manages to pass to side control.

Louis tries to kick Avila off in order to stand up. Avila Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Avila tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Louis tries to escape but Avila is in control.

Louis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Avila is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Avila is defended easily by Louis.

so Louis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Louis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Avila escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Louis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Louis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Louis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Avila shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Louis pinned against the cage. Louis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Michael Louis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Louis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Avila moves away.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Louis in particular looking to stall.

Michael Louis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Avila takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Avila takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Louis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Avila.
Avila changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Louis tries to avoid it but Avila manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Louis to the ground. Louis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Louis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
