Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Headden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Armando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Armando has chosen The Fragrance Of Dark Coffee as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Headden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Armando! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Headden. A low kick from Armando misses and Headden counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Armando tries to land a sweep but no joy. Headden trying to control but Armando is working from the bottom. Headden loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Armando has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Headden has passed into side control.
Armando tries to bench press Headden off him but Headden keeps the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Headden controlling the position from side mount. Headden is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Armando is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Headden stalls from top position. Armando is trying to improve his position. Headden in side control lands a decent elbow. Armando is looking for a sweep. Headden lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Headden with the ground and pound but Armando regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Armando is looking for a sweep. Headden is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Headden trying to control the action but Armando is working from the bottom. Armando looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Armando is trying to get back to full guard. Headden is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Armando moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Headden trying to control but Armando is working from the bottom. Headden landing some decent shots from guard. Armando had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Headden defends it easily. Headden trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Headden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Armando is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Headden defends well. Armando lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Headden! Headden is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Headden's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Headden dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Headden misses with a body kick. Armando misses with a leg kick and Headden counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Armando throws a hook to the side of Headden's head but Headden sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Headden takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Headden throws a hook but Armando blocks it. Headden goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Armando clinches with his opponent.
Armando is trying to stall.

Headden lands with a short head shot on the inside. Headden has a couple of punches blocked by Armando.
Headden throws a punch but it's blocked by Armando. Armando tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Headden's elbow. Armando prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Armando unloads a knee to the mid-section. A short left from Headden. Armando tries to work over Headden's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. A battle for position here, against the cage. Armando softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Armando fails to land. Armando unloads a knee to the mid-section. Headden lands a hook that snaps the head of Armando backwards. Headden lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Headden lands an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Armando controlling the action here for a moment.

Headden throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Armando blocks it with crossed arms. Headden drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Armando gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Headden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Headden has hold of one of Armando's legs. Armando is fighting the takedown attempt but Headden gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Headden trying to control the position from guard on top but Armando is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Armando looking for a guillotine here but Headden defends easily.
Headden wants to control from the top but Armando keeps moving. Armando has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Headden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Headden is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Headden with a nice head shot there. Headden slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Armando manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Headden trying to control from half guard but Armando is working away. Armando wants to improve his position but Headden is controlling well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Headden is taking a breather. Armando says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Armando trying to get back to full guard but Headden takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Headden looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Headden shoots in and bounces Armando off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Headden throwing strikes but missing. Headden throws a big right hand that misses. Headden throwing strikes from guard but Armando blocks nicely. Headden is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Headden is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Diego Armando has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The ref stands the fighters back up. Steve Headden wasn't doing enough on the ground. A jab from Headden finds it's way through Armando's defenses. Armando throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Headden counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. The fighters circle momentarily. Headden darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Armando fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Headden looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Armando walks into a stiff left hand from Headden. Armando throws a body punch but Headden moves out of range. Armando attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. A jab from Headden does it's job there. Headden doesn't manage to clinch there - Armando circles away.
Armando takes a swing at Headden's ribcage but misses. Armando gets off balance looking for a body kick and Headden counters with a right hand to the body. Armando throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Armando takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Headden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Armando swats him away and circles back towards the center. Armando fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A nice inside leg kick there by Headden. That's going to slow Armando down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Armando gets in close and instigates a clinch. Headden misses with the head strike.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Armando. Headden is working Armando over against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Armando misses with a punch to the body.
Still in the clinch, Armando scores with a nice short uppercut. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Armando tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Headden avoids it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Armando misses with a body punch.

And that's the end of the fight! Steve Headden showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Headden, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
