Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brent McNeil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brent McNeil!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McNeil looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Garcia drives through with a takedown into McNeil's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

McNeil is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Garcia throwing strikes from guard but McNeil blocks nicely.

Garcia avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McNeil pulls Garcia in to control the position.

Garcia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Garcia is breathing heavily.
McNeil is trying to keep Garcia in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Garcia accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

McNeil has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Garcia can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McNeil looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McNeil has his hands on Garcia's head, controlling the position.
McNeil wants to stand and escape but Garcia is having none of it.
McNeil is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McNeil avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Garcia has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
McNeil is pulling down on Garcia's head to control his posture.
Garcia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McNeil on the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McNeil is looking to sinch up a triangle. Garcia throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to McNeil's body to avoid the submission. McNeil has instead reached around Garcia's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! McNeil arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Brent McNeil!
