Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gibson Rickenbacker v.2!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rickenbacker v.2 scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Edwards goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Edwards scores with a body shot.
Rickenbacker v.2 tries to clinch up but Edwards circles away and keeps his distance.
Edwards connects with the punch.
Rickenbacker v.2 pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Edwards thuds his right hand into Rickenbacker v.2's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Edwards scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Rickenbacker v.2 throws a head kick but Edwards moves out of range.
Edwards throws a leg kick which misses Rickenbacker v.2's front leg but catches the back leg as Rickenbacker v.2 tries to avoid it.
Edwards cracks the inside of Rickenbacker v.2's front leg.
Rickenbacker v.2 looks gassed!
Rickenbacker v.2 on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Edwards fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rickenbacker v.2 manages to avoid it.
Edwards fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rickenbacker v.2 looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rickenbacker v.2 takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Edwards lands with an overhand left.
Edwards cracks a nice hook into Rickenbacker v.2's ribs.
Edwards closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Rickenbacker v.2! Edwards dives in looking to finish! Rickenbacker v.2 is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Edwards!
Mark Edwards decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
