The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pozzollo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Somme did well to prevent Pozzollo getting side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Somme tries to roll over but Pozzollo keeps him under control.
Somme avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pozzollo.
Somme is trying to maintain the position but Pozzollo is very close to passing his half guard.

Pozzollo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Somme is positioning himself well to prevent Pozzollo advancing to mount.

Pozzollo wants to work for an arm triangle but Somme is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Somme is trying to get back to full guard.

Pozzollo decides to return to a standing position.

Pozzollo shoots in and gets a takedown into Somme's guard.
Pozzollo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Somme controls Pozzollo momentarily but Pozzollo frees himself.

Somme throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Pozzollo makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pozzollo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Pozzollo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pozzollo looking to ground and pound but Somme is blocking nicely.
Pozzollo tries to control but Somme wriggling away.
Pozzollo lands a big shot there that rocks Somme but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Pozzollo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Somme is on top in guard.
Pozzollo is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Pozzollo is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Somme frees his head nicely. Oh but Pozzollo has switched to an armbar! Somme is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
