Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Nicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Assassin Player (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Nicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Assassin Player!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Player clinches.
Player looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Nicks managing to block the knees to the body from Player.
Nicks tries to pull guard but Player won't allow it.
Player keeps control of Nicks as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Nicks fails to pull guard.
Player jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nicks walks away with a smile on his face. Player gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A thudding body kick lands there by Nicks!

Nicks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Player sprawls well initially but Nicks persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nicks in particular looking to stall.
Player is not content to let Nicks control the position.
Nicks stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Steve Nicks just wasn't active enough.
Player stuffs the takedown attempt from Nicks. Nicks gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Nicks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nicks shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Player sprawls well. Player wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nicks gets slowly back to his feet.
Assassin Player seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Player misses with an uppercut. Nicks saw that one coming.
Player doesn't manage to clinch there - Nicks circles away.
Nicks looks for a takedown but Player sprawls well.
Player throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nicks counters with a one-two to the body.

Player gets caught flat footed, as Nicks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nicks lands a couple of elbows.
Nicks postures up in Player's guard and throws a big left but Player blocks it.

Nicks content to stall in guard here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nicks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nicks throws a big right hand that misses.

Steve Nicks has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Nicks looks for a takedown but Player sprawls well.
Nicks displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Player.

Nicks closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Player's guard.

Player is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Player breaks from the clinch.

Nicks dives in and scores a takedown into Player's guard.
Nicks sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Steve Nicks.
Player throws a head kick but Nicks moves out of range.

Nicks clinches with his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Player pushes off an throws an elbow but Nicks leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Player using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Nicks has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nicks tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Player smiles and moves away.
Player tries to bum rush Nicks with a series of wild strikes but Nicks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Player throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Nicks rushes Player and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nicks misses with a body punch.
Player throws a knee to the head but misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Player wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nicks keeps control of Player as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Nicks wants to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Nicks dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Player throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nicks tries to clinch there but Player circles away.
Nicks lands with a cross.

Player closes the distance and clinches.
Nicks fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Player obliges.

Nicks breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nicks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nicks has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nicks creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Player's defenses.
Nicks fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Player is breathing heavily.
Nicks tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Player just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Nicks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Player misses with a knee to the head.
Nicks tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Player's elbow.

Nicks drags the fight down to the ground.

Player won't allow Nicks to get back to his feet.
Nicks seems keen to control Player's posture.
Nicks lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Player!
Player is in all sorts of trouble here.

Nicks moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Player has worked his arm free - good work by Player!

Player struggling a bit here.
Nicks wants to control for a moment but Player uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Nicks is stalling here. Player is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Nicks seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Player has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Nicks dodges the ground and pound from Player.
Player landing a few strikes.
Player in side control, throwing shots but Nicks defends.
Nicks is trying to control Player's posture but Player avoids it.
Nicks is looking to reverse the position.
Nicks takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Nicks is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Player's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Player throwing shots but Nicks is blocking nicely.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Player connects with a nice short shot to Nicks's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Player takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Player thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Nicks to regain full guard.
Player trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Player stands up over Nicks, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Player loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nicks is looking to sinch up a triangle. Player throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Nicks's body to avoid the submission. Nicks has instead reached around Player's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Nicks arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Steve Nicks!
