1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lampaan Kampaaja! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kampaaja throws a right hand that Ferrari ducks under and follows up with a left that Ferrari also avoids with ease. Ferrari misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ferrari takes a jab right on the kisser.
A big right from Kampaaja misses. Ferrari steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kampaaja. Kampaaja throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ferrari's waist but Ferrari gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kampaaja off to one side. Ferrari shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ferrari was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Ferrari swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kampaaja is now in Ferrari's guard. A big mistake from Ferrari there, giving up the dominant position! Kampaaja loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kampaaja throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ferrari works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ferrari manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kampaaja manages to get himself to full guard.
Kampaaja wants to sweep here but Ferrari controlling him for the moment. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ferrari passes Kampaaja's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferrari passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kampaaja! Kampaaja defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ferrari. Kampaaja really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferrari. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kampaaja keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ferrari scoring with strikes but Kampaaja is staying in there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. BOOM! Ferrari connects with a massive shot to the dome!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ferrari looking for a guillotine from mount but Kampaaja is having none of it. Ferrari prevents Kampaaja from getting the reversal. Ferrari looking to secure an arm triangle but Kampaaja defends it well. Kampaaja is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferrari fails to move to back control. Kampaaja wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
