Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zaur Gubiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Matador was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zaur Gubiev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Matador! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gubiev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Matador pinned against the cage. Matador gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gubiev throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gubiev is defended easily by Matador. Gubiev throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Matador fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Matador has Gubiev up against the cage in a clinch.
Matador dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Matador escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gubiev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matador as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zaur Gubiev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matador fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gubiev circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gubiev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matador as he jumps to the side. Gubiev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Matador to the mat! Matador manages to get full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Gubiev is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Matador is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Matador has escaped and now he's on top! Matador thows a big elbow that misses. Matador postures up in Gubiev's guard and throws a big left but Gubiev blocks it. Matador sitting in guard, not really doing much. Matador pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gubiev is keeping the position for now. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gubiev is looking for a triangle but Matador pushes his legs off easily.
Gubiev could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Gubiev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Matador throws a big right hand that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gubiev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matador doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Matador manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Matador trying to control but Gubiev is working from the bottom. Matador thows a big elbow that misses. Matador is working Gubiev over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Gubiev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Matador distracts Gubiev with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Matador throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gubiev works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Matador's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gubiev working for a triangle but Matador defends it easily.
Matador loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gubiev working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Matador has passed into half guard!
Gubiev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Matador. Matador tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gubiev knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Matador scoring with strikes to the body and head. Matador missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Gubiev wants to get back to full guard but Matador has passed into side control. Gubiev is trying to get back to half guard. Gubiev gets back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gubiev actively working from the bottom here. Gubiev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Matador pulls his head out easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gubiev tries to get to full guard but Matador has control of the leg. Matador throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Gubiev is not content to let Matador control the position. Gubiev looking for submissions off his back. Matador seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gubiev on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Matador dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Matador dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Matador lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Gubiev shoots in looking for a takedown. Matador tries to sprawl out of it but Gubiev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Matador manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Horrible takedown by Matador or perhaps it was just good defense by Gubiev which made him look bad. Gubiev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Matador forces Gubiev back against the cage and clinches. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gubiev changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Matador fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Matador throws an overhand right that lands on Gubiev's shoulder, as Gubiev tries to avoid the shot. Gubiev gets tackled into the cage by Matador. Matador maintains the clinch. Gubiev tries for a takedown. No joy.
Gubiev goes for a takedown attempt but Matador pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Matador closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gubiev quickly recovers to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Matador uses his free foot to push down on Gubiev's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gubiev. Matador is landing with some decent strikes but Gubiev is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Matador with shots to the head and body - Gubiev looks very uncomfortable down there. Gubiev is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matador fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Gubiev is looking to improve his position but Matador isn't that keen on the idea. Matador looking to control but Gubiev is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Matador connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Gubiev is trying to escape the mount.
Matador unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Gubiev wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Matador celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
