PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between DJ Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robby Sting (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sting has chosen Friday as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Robby Sting looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Dee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robby Sting!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sting goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Sting looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Sting shoots in but Dee avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Robby Sting seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dee avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Sting throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Dee's head.
Sting lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Dee doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sting counters with a head kick. That will keep Dee thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Dee swats away the attempt to clinch by Sting.

Dee fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sting to the ground. Dee is now in Sting's guard.

Dee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dee trying to control the position from guard on top but Sting is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dee controlling from the top position.
Dee slips nicely into half guard.
Dee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sting does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dee is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dee throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dee wants to pass to mount but Sting is defending the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dee seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of DJ Dee.
Sting throws a sloppy head kick and Dee moves out of range easily.
Dee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dee pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sting is out of range and Dee settles back down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Dee shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dee was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dee tries to control but Sting wriggling away.
Dee looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DJ Dee dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Dee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sting sprawls well initially but Dee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dee is looking to advance position but Sting won't allow it.

Dee wants to work for an arm triangle but Sting is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sting looks like he's trying to stand up.
Sting is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sting blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dee.

Dee is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dee is nestled in close to Sting, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dee looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dee is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sting blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dee.
Dee keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Dee is trying to control the action in half guard but Sting is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dee is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sting is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because DJ Dee just wasn't active enough.
Dee fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dee throws a head kick but Sting moves out of range.
Dee defending well as Sting loads up on a big left hand.
Dee misses with a head kick.

Dee shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dee was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Dee gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
DJ Dee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dee looks for a takedown but Sting sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DJ Dee dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Dee wants a takedown.
Dee keeps control of Sting as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Sting is trying to push Dee away but Dee has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Dee prevents Sting from breaking the clinch.
Sting wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Dee has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sting regains guard immediately.
Dee working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sting takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sting can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dee controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sting misses with a straight left.
Dee misses with a series of wild punches.
Dee lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Dee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sting not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
DJ Dee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sting is wriggling around but Dee manages to pass to half guard.

Dee is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sting is just riding it out for now. Dee eventually gives up the hold.

Sting is kicking away at Dee from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Dee grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a hell hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Sting trying to push Dee off... Sting taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). DJ Dee!
