Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Takumi Kono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Obed Kunirio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kono comes into the arena with The Last Samurai- Red Warrior blaring out of the sound system. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Obed Kunirio was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takumi Kono! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Obed Kunirio! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kono on the wrong end of a nice jab. Kono takes the fight into the clinch. Kono trying to stall but Kunirio improves his position.
Kunirio is trying to break the clinch but Kono is controlling him. Kunirio working aggressively here.

Kunirio has a couple of punches blocked by Kono.
Kunirio wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kunirio wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kunirio takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kunirio. Kunirio swings wildly with an uppercut but Kono uses good head movement to avoid it. Kono tries to stall but Kunirio uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Kunirio misses with a short punch on the inside. Kunirio breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kono tries for a takedown but Kunirio sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Kono falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Kunirio counter with a right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kono on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Kunirio darts in and clinches Kono up against the cage. Kunirio misses with a punch on the inside.
Kunirio swings away with an uppercut that misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kunirio has had enough of the clinch but Kono keeps him there for the moment. Kunirio throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Kono just leaning against Kunirio, taking a breather. Kunirio tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kono smiles and moves away.

Takumi Kono seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kono tries to keep at a distance but Kunirio has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kunirio misses with the head strike.
Kunirio scores with a shot to the side of Kono's head. Kunirio jumps guard but Kono stands there with Kunirio around his waist. Kunirio gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Takumi Kono has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Obed Kunirio. Kunirio is trying to break the clinch but Kono is controlling him. Kono tries to pull guard but Kunirio holds him up against the cage and eventually Kono drops back down to his feet.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Kunirio fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Kunirio lands on the inside with an uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Kono. A head punch on the inside from Kunirio fails to land. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kunirio throws a head punch that misses. Kono using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kunirio has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Kunirio tries to throw a body punch but Kono avoids it by throwing Kunirio back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Obed Kunirio dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Kono fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kono shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kunirio eats them both and turns towards Kono to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Kunirio has taken the fight to the clinch.

Kono looks to land a combination but Kunirio avoids it well. Kono misses with a double jab
letting Kunirio counter with a right hand. Kono goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kono shoots in but Kunirio avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kono is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kunirio moves into the clinch successfully.
Kono wants to stall.
Maybe Kono would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Kono is looking to control Kunirio's arms but Kunirio gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kono has his back to the cage. Kono tries to pull guard but Kunirio holds him up against the cage and eventually Kono drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takumi Kono. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kono as Kunirio tries to tie him up. Kono is trying to break free. Kunirio lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Kono has Kunirio pushed against the cage. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kunirio. Kunirio lands a body punch in the clinch. Kono pulls guard effortlessly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kunirio wants to control from the top but Kono keeps moving. Kono manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Kunirio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kono clinches with his opponent.
Kunirio lands a hook that snaps the head of Kono backwards. Kunirio tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

A close second round but Obed Kunirio will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Kono is rocked! Kono throws a big shot that misses. Oh Kono is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A cross from Kunirio lands. Kono misses with a wild combination.
Kunirio throws an overhand right that drops Kono like a sack of potatoes! Kunirio dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
