Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cyrille Chateau! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko shoots in for a double leg but Chateau sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A combination from Emelianenko does no damage. Emelianenko is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chateau's half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Emelianenko not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Chateau is trying to control but can't.
Chateau keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Chateau is trying to maintain the position but Emelianenko is very close to passing his half guard. Emelianenko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chateau's head. Emelianenko wants to control but Chateau is keeping him busy. Emelianenko decides to return to a standing position. Emelianenko lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Chateau backs up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Emelianenko closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Emelianenko stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chateau doesn't succeed with the takedown and Emelianenko counters with a takedown into side control. Emelianenko could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Emelianenko stands up and we're back to a striking position. Chateau gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Emelianenko counters with a nice double leg into guard. Chateau looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Emelianenko chips away with some ground and pound. Emelianenko is looking to work some ground and pound but Chateau has wrist control. Chateau is working an open guard so Emelianenko takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Chateau instigates a clinch. Emelianenko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Chateau tries a head kick but it misses.

Emelianenko shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chateau defends it nicely. Chateau drives through and clinches with Emelianenko against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Chateau has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Emelianenko avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Chateau has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Emelianenko is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Emelianenko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cyrille Chateau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chateau gets a clinch. Emelianenko is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Emelianenko has clasped his hands together around Chateau's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Emelianenko in side control lands a decent elbow. Chateau wants to control but Emelianenko postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Emelianenko landing strikes from the mount and Chateau is in trouble! Chateau tries to reverse the position but Emelianenko maintains control. Emelianenko raining down shots from the mount! Chateau wants to hold on but Emelianenko pushes him away. Emelianenko is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Chateau can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Chateau is working to get back to half guard.
Emelianenko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Emelianenko connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chateau is working an open guard so Emelianenko takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Emelianenko drives through and clinches with Chateau against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko is looking to sinch up a triangle. Chateau throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Emelianenko's body to avoid the submission. Emelianenko has instead reached around Chateau's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Emelianenko arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
