Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robbie Lawler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rango Gracie ! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab lands there for Lawler. Lawler misses with a series of wild punches.

Gracie closes the distance and pushes Lawler back into the ropes. Lawler tries to break free but Gracie pushes him back against the ropes. Gracie keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Lawler's efforts to push away. With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Gracie just misses with a elbow thrown towards Lawler's brow. Lawler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lawler throws an overhand right that lands on Gracie 's shoulder, as Gracie tries to avoid the shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie moves forwards but Lawler connects with a nice, crisp jab. Lawler throws out a loose jab but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it. Lawler is staying active underneath Gracie , who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gracie seems to be looking for submissions.

Lawler is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lawler sprawls well. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lawler. Robbie Lawler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie ducks under a wild hook from Lawler. Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lawler pinned against the ropes. Lawler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A nice combination there by Lawler.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lawler throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Lawler misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Gracie feints and as Lawler raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rango Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lawler works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
