Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Santiago! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rory Kincade! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santiago dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kincade blocks a head kick by Santiago.
Kincade throws a sloppy head kick and Santiago moves out of range easily. Santiago takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Santiago misses with a few strikes there.
Santiago scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
A low kick from Kincade is predictable there and Santiago counters with a series of strikes. Kincade will be more careful next time no doubt. A bone on bone clash there as Santiago blocks the leg kick.
Santiago moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kincade scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Kincade throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kincade with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Santiago misses with a few strikes there.
Kincade lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Kincade throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kincade throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Santiago on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kincade. Kincade obviously looking to wear him down.
Santiago throws a series of punches but Kincade moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santiago dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kincade does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Kincade tries to work over Santiago's front leg with a kick but Santiago checks it. Santiago slips a jab from Kincade. Santiago ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Kincade tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kincade fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Santiago connects with a body shot. Kincade misses the shot to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Santiago. Kincade does a little dance to reset his feet. Kincade misses with a looping right. Kincade pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Santiago lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Santiago. Kincade throws a leg kick and Santiago counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Kincade! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Santiago!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Santiago!
