Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Catfish Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Aewult Byrne!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Byrne.
Davis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Catfish Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Byrne on the ground.

Byrne is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Davis pulls his head out easily.
Davis is stalling here. Byrne is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Davis seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Byrne has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Byrne creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Davis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Davis displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Byrne throws out the jab.
Davis shoots for a double leg takedown but Byrne sprawls well. He's pushed Davis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Byrne lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Davis doesn't manage to clinch there - Byrne circles away.
Byrne works over Davis's head and body with a nice combination.
Davis is breathing heavily.

and Byrne counters with a nice low kick that buckles Davis's knee momentarily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Catfish Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Byrne works to advance to full mount. Davis defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Byrne swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Davis is now in Byrne's guard. A big mistake from Byrne there, giving up the dominant position!

Byrne is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Davis rolls with it to try and escape but Byrne cranks on the arm and Davis is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Aewult Byrne!
