Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ted Knight! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Jackson! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knight tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jackson dips to his left and cracks Knight with an uppercut! No joy there for Knight, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Knight tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jackson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Knight gets a clinch. Knight throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jackson misses with a body punch.

Jackson wants to get back to striking at distance but Knight won't allow it.

Jackson wants the takedown. Knight is fighting it off but Jackson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Knight's guard against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Knight keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully. Jackson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson is looking to work some ground and pound but Knight has wrist control. Jackson is fighting to break Knight's control of his arms but Knight is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Jackson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Knight is controlling Jackson's posture. Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jackson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Knight wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment. Knight controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ted Knight wasn't doing enough on the ground. Knight throws a head kick that misses. Knight gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A lazy left from Jackson finds it's target. Both fighters circling a little - Jackson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jackson scores with a shot to the body.
Knight tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jackson moves out of range as Knight strikes. Knight walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Jackson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jackson tries to move to mount but Knight blocks the move with his legs. Jackson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Knight to see if he's OK. Jackson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson controlling the position. Jackson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Knight sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Jackson working the ground and pound but Knight is defending the strikes. Jackson working the head and body with strikes. Jackson has hold of Knight's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Knight tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Jackson cranks the arm and Knight screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Knight, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
