Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Jedard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerhard Rihmakallo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jedard comes into the arena with Creeping Death by Metallica blaring out of the sound system. Rihmakallo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Blood For Blood-Living In Exile kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Gerhard Rihmakallo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steve Jedard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gerhard Rihmakallo! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rihmakallo misses with a few strikes there.
Jedard bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jedard throws an overhand right that lands on Rihmakallo's shoulder, as Rihmakallo tries to avoid the shot. Jedard misses with a series of wild punches.
Rihmakallo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
It looks like Steve Jedard has been cut. Gerhard Rihmakallo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. An inside leg kick from Jedard misses. Jedard rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rihmakallo moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jedard tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rihmakallo swivels and escapes. Rihmakallo looks to land a right hand but Jedard moved out of range. Rihmakallo misses with a hook. Rihmakallo checks a low kick from Jedard. This has been an exciting period of action! Jedard misses with a looping right. Jedard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Jedard trying to control but Rihmakallo is working from the bottom. Jedard throws and elbow that misses. Rihmakallo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jedard's guard. Nice move by Rihmakallo! Jedard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rihmakallo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rihmakallo cracks Jedard with a solid left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rihmakallo distracts Jedard with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Rihmakallo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Jedard working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rihmakallo. Rihmakallo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Rihmakallo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Rihmakallo throws and elbow that misses. Jedard uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rihmakallo's guard. Nice move by Jedard! Rihmakallo working for a triangle but Jedard defends it easily.
Rihmakallo wants to stand but Jedard is controlling the position. Rihmakallo wants to sweep here but Jedard controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jedard sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rihmakallo's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jedard is looking for a kimura but Rihmakallo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jedard to get the leverage. Rihmakallo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jedard is working away from the top position though. Rihmakallo looking for submissions off his back. Rihmakallo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rihmakallo. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jedard looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rihmakallo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jedard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rihmakallo looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Rihmakallo is looking to stand up but Jedard isn't so interested in that idea. Rihmakallo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Jedard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rihmakallo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jedard works a leg free and moves into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jedard is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rihmakallo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jedard pulls his head out easily. Rihmakallo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Jedard has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Jedard is working for a guillotine from mount but Rihmakallo frees his head quite easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jedard is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rihmakallo to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rihmakallo shrugs it off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerhard Rihmakallo dominated that round. The cut man is working on Steve Jedard's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Rihmakallo stuffs the takedown. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Rihmakallo misses with a few strikes there.
Rihmakallo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Excellent takedown into side control there by Jedard. Jedard working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Rihmakallo explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Jedard with a nice cross. Jedard shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rihmakallo defends it nicely. Jab from Rihmakallo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sloppy strikes from Jedard. Those never looked like landing. Rihmakallo throws an overhand right that lands on Jedard's shoulder, as Jedard tries to avoid the shot. The fighters circling - Rihmakallo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rihmakallo misses with a double jab.
Rihmakallo misses with a looping right. Rihmakallo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Rihmakallo misses with a head kick.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Rihmakallo. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Rihmakallo thows a left - swing and a miss! Rihmakallo throws a looping overhand right but Jedard ducks down to avoid it. Rihmakallo throws a hook to the side of Jedard's head but Jedard sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Jedard cracks Rihmakallo with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Rihmakallo looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Jedard finish him?
Rihmakallo is rocked!
It looks like Gerhard Rihmakallo has been cut. Rihmakallo might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jedard connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Rihmakallo is still on wobbly legs! Can Jedard finish him? Rihmakallo swings widly with a right hand
and Jedard counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Rihmakallo falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!
