PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Albert Johanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Rizal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johanson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Cult of Personality. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rizal closes the distance and clinches.
Rizal is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Rizal tries to circle away but Johanson has him pinned against the cage.

Johanson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rizal uses from the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Johanson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Rizal has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Johanson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rizal is now in Johanson's guard. A big mistake from Johanson there, giving up the dominant position!

Johanson shoots for a double leg takedown but Rizal sprawls well. He's pushed Johanson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rizal's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jose Rizal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Johanson jumps guard but Rizal stands there with Johanson around his waist. Johanson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rizal is struggling to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jose Rizal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rizal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
