PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Hearst Helmsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Kerns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Helmsley comes into the arena with hhh blaring out of the sound system. Hunter Hearst Helmsley has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jake Kerns!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helmsley feints a jab promting Kerns to slip. Helmsley then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kerns slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Jake Kerns has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Helmsley lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kerns circles away quickly and effectively.
Hunter Hearst Helmsley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Helmsley.
Kerns is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Helmsley trying to control the action but Kerns is working from the bottom.

Helmsley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Helmsley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kerns does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

and Kerns decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Helmsley's guard.

Kerns tries to free his leg and advance position but Helmsley is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Helmsley isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kerns stacks Helmsley on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kerns!

It looks like Kerns might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Kerns thows a huge punch but Helmsley dodges it nicely.
Helmsley is trying to stand up here but Kerns is controlling him well.
Helmsley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kerns is working away from the top position though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kerns connects with a nice short shot to Helmsley's temple.
Kerns scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are battling for position here. Helmsley manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

That was a close round but I would say that Hunter Hearst Helmsley will probably get the nod.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kerns lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Helmsley down.
Kerns creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Helmsley is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kerns off and has taken his back!

Kerns might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Helmsley kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kerns throws a looping overhand right but Helmsley ducks down to avoid it.
Helmsley fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Helmsley looks for a takedown but Kerns sprawls well.

Helmsley shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kerns pinned against the cage. Kerns gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kerns is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kerns in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Helmsley looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Kerns turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
