Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dick Masterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Oliveira! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oliveira misses with a series of wild punches.
Masterson stuns Oliveira with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Oliveira has taken the fight to the clinch.
Oliveira lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Oliveira breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Oliveira keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Oliveira stuffs the takedown attempt from Masterson. Masterson gets slowly back to his feet. Oliveira throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Masterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Oliveira sprawls well initially but Masterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Masterson is pressing down on Oliveira's thigh, looking to free his foot. Oliveira is holding on for now. Masterson throwing shots but Oliveira is blocking nicely. Masterson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Masterson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Oliveira is trying desperately to improve position. Oliveira wants to hold on but Masterson pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Oliveira holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Masterson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Masterson goes for an armbar but Oliveira turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Oliveira. Masterson is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Oliveira has his hands clasped together but Masterson extends an breaks Oliveira's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Masterson.
