The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gable misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gable fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gable will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Gable. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gable shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Gable tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gable throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gable off to one side.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gable shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Smith cracks a nice hook into Gable's ribs.
Gable is breathing heavily.
Smith tests Gable's chin there with a solid looking shot.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Gable. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Smith throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Gable gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!
