The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapdelaine dives in and grabs Schmidt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Schmidt pushes down on Chapdelaine's head and hops out.

Schmidt clinches up with Chapdelaine and pushes him back against the cage.

Schmidt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chapdelaine keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Schmidt.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Schmidt gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Schmidt is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Chapdelaine is defending against the submission attempts here by Schmidt.

Schmidt decides to return to a standing position.

Schmidt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Schmidt is working Chapdelaine over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Schmidt is trying to trip Chapdelaine. He has hold of a leg but Chapdelaine is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Schmidt persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Schmidt connects with a nice short shot to Chapdelaine's temple.

Ovila Chapdelaine's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
