Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Gruberman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gord Chimpski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ed Gruberman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gord Chimpski! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gruberman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chimpski tries to avoid it but Gruberman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chimpski to the ground. Chimpski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gruberman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Gruberman could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Gruberman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chimpski swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gruberman wants to control from the top but Chimpski keeps moving. Chimpski trying to control the position.
Chimpski is looking to stand up but Gruberman isn't so interested in that idea. Gruberman wants to control from the top but Chimpski keeps moving. Gruberman wants to pass the guard but Chimpski is keeping the position. Gruberman trying to control but Chimpski is working from the bottom. Chimpski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gruberman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gruberman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Chimpski moves out of range as Gruberman throws a body kick.
Chimpski gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gruberman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Chimpski! Gruberman throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Chimpski because Gruberman loaded up on that one. Chimpski is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Chimpski tries to hold on but Gruberman pushes him away. Gruberman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Chimpski is surviving well by controlling Gruberman's body position as best he can. Chimpski wants to control but Gruberman is having none of it. Gruberman landing shots from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gruberman lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Gruberman is in the full mount, landing strikes. Chimpski is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Gruberman looking for a guillotine from mount but Chimpski is having none of it. Gruberman is breathing heavily. Chimpski is bucking up trying to escape but Gruberman cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Chimpski looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! A lull in the action here.
Chimpski trying to control the hands but Gruberman won't let him. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Chimpski turns into Gruberman and is now in his guard.
Chimpski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gruberman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chimpski is one step ahead there. Gruberman trying to control the position.
Gruberman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Chimpski controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Chimpski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gruberman is keeping the position for now. Chimpski must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gruberman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Gruberman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chimpski keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Gruberman seems to be working for a kimura but Chimpski defends the submission attempt. Gruberman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chimpski does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gruberman connects with a nice short shot to Chimpski's temple. Gruberman uses his free foot to push down on Chimpski's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Chimpski. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ed Gruberman dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gruberman gets the takedown into side control. Gruberman wants to control but Chimpski is keeping him busy. Gruberman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chimpski has escaped the position, nice work there. Gruberman taking a breather here. Chimpski tries to bench press Gruberman off him but Gruberman keeps the position. Chimpski is not content to let Gruberman control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gruberman advances to mount. A nice elbow there by Gruberman. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gruberman landing strikes from the mount. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gruberman cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Gruberman trying to control but he's not successful this time. Gruberman looking to secure an arm triangle but Chimpski defends it well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gruberman lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Chimpski hang on?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gruberman controlling the position easily from mount. Chimpski gets back to half guard. Gruberman is keen to just control but Chimpski is a slippery customer. Chimpski controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Gruberman prevents Chimpski from standing back up.
Gruberman trying to control from half guard but Chimpski is working away. Gruberman is thwarting Chimpski's attempts to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chimpski tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Gruberman is pressing down on Chimpski's thigh, looking to free his foot. Chimpski is holding on for now. Chimpski is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gruberman shoots and misses and Chimpski counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Gruberman is lucky that one didn't land flush. Chimpski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Gruberman counters with a takedown into side control. Chimpski is not content to let Gruberman control the position. Gruberman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Chimpski tries to buck Gruberman off but Gruberman is having none of it. Chimpski taking a bit of punishment here - Gruberman scoring with strikes. Chimpski tries to control but Gruberman manages to take his back. Gruberman is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Chimpski taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Gruberman.
